Mentorship
Reading the Chinese Medicine Classics
Do you want to join me for a ride?
Are you a student of Chinese medicine looking for a more direct connection to the cultural and historical background of this powerful medical paradigm? Are you attending a school where you are only getting a couple of classes in modern TCM terminology but want to learn about the classics?
Are you an experienced practitioner of Chinese medicine but have forgotten your basic studies in medical Chinese and are now finally ready to jump back in, but can’t quite afford to drop everything and move to China or take my intensive courses (yet)?
Are you a doctoral student or expert in our field wanting a closer and consistent connection to the classical roots of our medicine in a passionate community of like-minded folks?
Are you a Qigong practitioner, tea aficionado, or otherwise interested lover of classical Chinese culture with a special interest in health, self-cultivation, or cosmology and share my delight in the beauty of Chinese language, writing, and literature as a fellow “language nerd”?
Are you a prospective participant in my Triple Crown series of intensive courses starting yearly in the fall, and need to acquire or brush up on your foundational language skills in order to prepare?
Would you like a 10% discount on any of my courses and publications and a 33% discount on my Imperial Tutor mentorship?
If any of this applies to you, check out my mentorship with a $9 9-day trial (which you can cancel at any time during this period or have it convert to the regular membership at $36/month or $360/year afterwards).
What is included?
Weekly lessons
Each month you receive three educational essays or videos in your personal journey through my program. In addition, all members get to participate in four translation challenges each month: a monthly rotation of a character, 成語 expression, “mystery quote,” and medical quote, spaced a week apart).
Text readings
In monthly members-only events, we come together to study classical passages. Under Dr. Wilms’ guidance, the Peach Blossom Spring Collective prepares and discusses the texts. Live attendance and access to the recordings afterwards are included in your membership.
A library and salon
A library of useful resources, videos, and links complements the weekly lessons. The “salon” is always open as an interactive forum for members to connect with each other.
All this information is presented on a beautiful, intuitive members-only platform where you have access to any posts or videos unlocked for you for the duration of your membership so you can take your time to meander on this journey.
How is this different from the “Triple Crown” courses?
The courses have firm start dates with a clearly structured weekly curriculum of homework, lectures, and discussions that everybody has to complete at the same time. In the courses, active participation is required and translations are posted and critiqued in a shared forum so we can all learn from and with each other. They are much more time-consuming and challenging than this membership, which is intended as a long-term commitment to keep all of us learning and evolving in our understanding of classical Chinese medicine, no matter what level you are at and how much time you have.
Compared to the serious commitment of the series of three courses, this membership offers you little bite-sized weekly posts, recordings, and challenges that you can choose to engage in or not. The information will be there for you whenever you are ready. Any live events are recorded and accessible at any time..
The mentorship is intended to support the Triple Crown courses and to prepare you initially by laying the foundations. Perhaps this year is not the right time for you for such a deep dive and intensive training program? In that case, this mentorship is designed as a relaxing, fun, and engaging way to “play” with classical Chinese language and medical literature with no pressure or time commitment.
